Fix Auto painter Maggie Friesen has earned a place on Team Canada and will be representing the country in WorldSkills 2019.
“We are so proud to announce that Maggie Friesen, a member of the Fix Auto London North West team, will be representing Canada at WorldSkills 2019 in Russia later this summer,” says Daryll O’Keefe, Regional Vice President Fix Network Ontario & Manitoba.
Competitors in several skills and trades from all over the world will come together to participate in the 45th edition of the competition from August 22-27 in Kazan, Russia. Friesen dreams of bringing home gold for her team by displaying her expert car painting skills.
Winning several competitions have helped Friesen earn a place on Team Canada. She previously bagged a gold medal at the Ontario Skills Competition which allowed her to participate at the national competition that took place in Edmonton last year. She won the bronze medal in car painting and also got the opportunity to compete for a place on Canada’s national team. She won the competition due to her skill, a keen eye for detail and passion for her trade.
“I am so excited to represent Canada at WorldSkills 2019,” says Friesen. “This is a great opportunity for me and a chance to represent Canada and women in the automotive industry on a global scale.”
Over 1,300 competitors from more than 60 countries take part in the WorldSkills competition which is held every two years. Young contestants from across the globe get the opportunity to win a medal in their chosen skill. Competitions are held for over 50 skills from a wide array of industries. Participants are selected from competitions that are held in WorldSkills member countries and regions.
