New OEM Repair Portal

Autosphere » Collision » New OEM Repair Portal

There’s now official OEM Repair Information for Canadian auto service providers.

OEMrepairinfo.ca is a portal linking Canadian automotive repair technicians to OEM technical information websites.

The website was developed so that Canadian repairers have a one-stop resource listing and linking to the technical information websites of the Canadian auto manufacturers and distributors that are part of the Canadian Automotive Service Information Standard (CASIS) agreement.

Joint project

The new portal is a joint project of the four associations that signed the agreement: The Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association (CVMA), the Global Automakers of Canada (GAC) who together represent automakers that import or manufacture over 99 percent of the vehicles sold in Canada and the two aftermarket associations, the National Automotive Trades Association (NATA) and Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA).

This free access portal contains, for each car maker and model, a specific link to diagnostic, repair, service and collision information, as well as access to vehicle security data for keys and immobilizers. The portal also allows users to set up accounts with instructions for all makes.

Other features include basic and advanced service information, complimentary technical guides and diagrams for some car manufacturers including free structural measurement diagrams; reprogramming guides; J2534 software and scan tool information; scan tool to vehicle charts; calibration update links; Certified collision repair programs; Collision repair data (RTS); Uniform procedures for collision repair (RTS); Vehicle position statements for Canada and the United States; and Hybrid and electric vehicle support.

There’s also OEM training available, as well as sample videos and subscription pricing (short, medium and long term). The portal also provides a link to the Transport Canada Recalls Database; My Car Does What? (public information site); Crash Repair Info; Database Enhancement Gateway; and OEM Calibration Requirements Search (RTS).

Also included on the site are Ford, General Motors and Chrysler heavy-duty trucks, Saab, Hummer, Suzuki, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley and the Chrysler sold Sprinter and Crossfire.

Security information

OEMrepairinfo.ca also allows for approved technicians and locksmiths to access the Vehicle Security Professional program through the CASIS-linked site of vehiclesecurityprofessional.ca and identifies those on the program by the province at findavsp.ca.

The VSP program is a data exchange system conceived and designed co-operatively by automakers and the independent auto repair community, in cooperation with the insurance and law enforcement communities. It allows the aftermarket to access security-sensitive information related to automobiles (i.e. key codes, immobilizer reset information and similar types of information). The VSP program allows access to security-related information while protecting the safety and security of consumers and the integrity of automobile security systems.

Last year, over one million inquiries through the VSP program were registered with 97 percent of the shops receiving security data on individual vehicles within three seconds. This feature has helped thousands of customers in the generation of new keys, immobilizer resets or downloaded programming completion on technical repairs.

As well, only VSP approved technicians can access Mercedes-Benz Theft Related Parts. Often software that is unavailable through new car dealerships can be accessed through this program’s help.
