Cloyes recently announced the addition of three new kits to its timing chain water pump kit product line.

According to Cloyes, the new products have been designed for Nissan, Infiniti, and Suzuki 3.5-liter and 4.0-litre V6 engine applications, such as 2002 – 2019 350Z, Altima, Equator, G35, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Quest, and Xterra, to name a few. With the new kits, Cloyes is providing coverage for an additional three million vehicles-in-operation (VIO) in North America.

Cloyes states in a release that its timing chain water pump kits have been developed to offer a complete repair solution to both professional technicians as well as do-it-yourself customers. The kits are designed as replacements for damaged or worn out timing chains, tensioners, sprockets, guides, and water pumps.

“The Cloyes engineering and product development team is excited to continue our water pump development program,” said Jason Thompson, Vice President of Engineering and Product Development for Cloyes. “With water pumps failing more frequently than timing chains, we continue to follow our complete kit strategy and give our customers the opportunity to replace these components concurrently, which can reduce comebacks and additional labour fees for the consumer.”

Before releasing them, the company tests its water pumps in a full operational RPM range. The products are evaluated in eight different test parameters—torque, flow, outlet pressure, temperature, inlet pressure, axis power, efficiency, and lift.

Cloyes explains in its release that in order to reduce warranties, customer comebacks, and ensure long-term system performance, it is important to replace the timing chain-driven water pumps and the timing chain at the same time.

“While many repair manuals suggest replacing only the water pump or tensioner on these applications, Cloyes always recommends replacing all related components to ensure a trouble-free repair,” noted Thompson.
