The Automotive Aftermarket Retailers of Ontario (AARO) has announced more details on the “Repair It Right 2020” task force for Canadian automotive repair shops.
Having formed an alliance with industry associations and parts suppliers across Canada, AARO has been able to cultivate a strong, national voice representing the interests of independent automotive service providers. AARO is asking technicians to join the association to provide them with the right information, tools and equipment to repair all vehicles.
As part of the Repair It Right 2020 initiative, all Canadian Service Information Requests (SIRs) are to be sent to the National Repair It Right task force.
By submitting SIRs to the website, technicians will receive a direct response from one of the technical task force members.
For additional information, AARO has provided a video showing how and when to submit a service request form. Additionally, a toll free Repair It Right 2020 hot line number has also been issued— 1-833-787-4020.
An SIR is required when repair and diagnostic information cannot be found using existing shop information systems or the factory OEM website. When the information a technician is searching for is not available, a technician can fill out a SIR so that the problem can be corrected. The process is designed to benefit all technicians and the industry as a whole.
Given past concerns about Canadian technicians having difficult accessing repair information, AARO teamed up with the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) in the U.S.
NASTF has well-established relationships with OEMs to provide the correct service information and has agreed to partner with AARO to ensure service technicians on both sides of the border have the same access to Service, Diagnostic and Programming information. At NASTF’s request all Canadian SIR’s must come through AARO where AARO staff will review and vet the SIR’s before passing them along to NASTF.
All technicians need to register with NASTF for free by going to nastf.org and may also apply to become a Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) on the NASTF site. When a technician applies it will ask who they are affiliated with, requiring them to click “AARO” in the drop-down box.
