Uni-Select announced the official opening of a new Bumper to Bumper distribution centre in Calgary, Alberta.

The centre is located at 1710-104 Avenue NE in Calgary’s Oxford Airport Business Park. Spread out over a massive 27507 sq m (296,085 sq ft) area, this is Uni-Select’s largest distribution centre till date.

“We are proud to launch this distribution centre, which is in line with our focus on operational excellence and has been designed to continuously improve customer service, with increased efficiency and quicker delivery,” said Brent Windom, President and Chief Executive Officer of Uni-Select. “Located in a strategic location for our customers and suppliers in Western Canada, this new facility will support our long-term growth and truly is a major accomplishment for our team.”

“The opening of Uni-Select’s distribution centre, their largest one yet, speaks volumes to the confidence they’ve shown for doing business in Calgary. We’ve been investing in our transportation network, to serve our citizens and to serve the industry, and today’s news shows that it has paid dividends,” said Naheed Nenshi, Mayor of Calgary.

At present, 30 full-time employees work at the Bumper to Bumper distribution centre and Uni-Select plans to employ 35 more by the end of this year. The location currently serves 1,300 shops as well as around 200 stores, including 87 Bumper to Bumper stores, throughout Western Canada. For the benefit of its customers’ technicians and service advisors along with members in the Uni-Select store network, the company intends to open a 692 sq m (7,450 sq ft) training facility within the distribution centre. Trainees will receive hands-on experience with the newest technologies, product knowledge and techniques.

It will also be home to a 7,450 ft² training centre which will provide hands-on experience with the newest technologies, product knowledge and techniques, for customers’ technicians and service advisors and members in the Uni-Select store network.
